| Horse Movement and Gaits |
|
This CD-ROM is an effective teaching tool for equine science students and others who want to learn how horses move. In addition to the traditional gaits - walk, trot, canter, gallop, and back - the CD-ROM also delves into the gaits of breeds such as Pasos, Tennessee Walking Horses, Standardbreds, Saddlebreds, and Missouri Fox Trotters. There are segments on the pace, running walk, paso fino, slow gait, and rack. Each gait is broken down into its components - hoofbeat sounds, footfall patterns, and other details. Videotapes of horses performing the gaits accompany each segment, so the viewer can see and hear the distinctions between gaits. Slow-motion photography is also used to demonstrate the gaits. System requirements include Windows 3.1, 95, NT, 133 Mhz Pentium, 8 MB RAM, 4x CD-ROM drive, sound card and speakers, SVGA with 265 colors. This CD sells for $20 and can be purchased from Wind Shadow Media Productions, 805 Breen Drive, Champaign, IL 61820; 217-398-4533; wsmp@pdnt.com. |
